Hey Gen, great ticker as always.

I am so disgusted with the whole mess I cannot wait until the whole damn thing comes crashing down. I will actually be a relief to me. The fraud and lying is unprecedented and seems like many people I see go about their daily business like nothing is going on. I think many know something is wrong, but do not know enough to draw a conclusion. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. Still does not make me less sick at my stomach, though.

btw, gen, thanks for the flag icon...I can't wait until the next protest, even if it makes little difference. It at least helps to relieve pent up stress.

thanks gen as always. Depressing try to due the right thinks in life and doesnt matter. I sit here day after day and say why am I proud to be american. Not sure anymore and then I look at my kids and have nothing to say.
I think I am going to pack it in for a while an wait for a parabolic blowoff. Last year i kept saying oil was overvalued at a 100, never thought it would get to 140.

Well done.

Senate Expands FDIC Credit Line To $100 Billion

Posted by Tyler Durden at 6:48 PM
As had been widely expected, today (a day before the stress test results finally stop leaking, compliments of the securities and exchange commission) the senate passed a measure approving the expansion of the credit line from the Treasury to the FDIC to $100 billion, from $30 billion previously. The vote passed 91 to 5. In addition, the FDIC will now have half a trillion credit limit that will expire by the end of 2010. As the senate has firmly decided that dollars are now not worth even their weight in zero-ply toilet paper, it makes sense to see just how quickly the FDIC has managed to eat through the Deposit Insurance Fund, of which it had roughly $19 billion at the end of 2008, and now has a couple of pennies above zero, which any way one looks at it is less than the statutory DIF reserve minimum of 1.15% of insured deposits (indicatively, the minimum balance in the DIF (at least according to existing laws: once can imagine these will be promptly "adjusted") should be $54 billion, or 1.15% of the $4.7 trillion in insured deposits. Once it falls below that amount the FDIC must come up with a restoration plan to raise the DIF to that level. Good luck with that) .

And all this was accomplished in a mere four months.

edit to add link from zerohedge showing the FDIC amounts for 2009.

What more need be said about people?

Even those who live in Hurricane Alley do not prepare until the Category 5 is literally just down the street.

In January 2000 when I moved ALL of my ROTH IRA into physical gold and then 90% from gold into physical silver in January 2003, where it ALL remains today, I have been attempting to get people to understand. I was silly enough to think that NOW people will listen, after losing a HUGE (HUGH for you Yahoo! types) portion of their retirement funds. Silly me! I still get nothing but blank stares when attempting to discuss The Ticker with family/friends.

I have just given up and continue preparations to save myself AND family by purchasing a larger-than-needed lifeboat. Friends will be on their own.

Sigh!

From Wikipedia:

Quote:
Kleptocracy AKA: Sometimes cleptocracy, occasionally kleptarchy, is a term applied to a government that extends the personal wealth and political power of government officials and the ruling class (collectively, kleptocrats) at the expense of the population, sometimes without even the pretense of honest service. The term derives from the Greek root klepto (theft).

Now square this with last month's California Tax Revenues: down 40%. That's "high-frequency" data - these taxes are collected and remitted every month and as such there is no "lag" in them - at all. Other states are similar.
Woah, Nelly....that's even more than I was predicting at this point (-25%ish).

(I wrote yesterday: The welfare-state is done. This suckers' rally in the market will end, and then the abyss looms. Tax-revolts will gather steam all summer and inevitably reach a critical mass, after which government receipts waterfall crash.)

Revolution is coming. With or without our current political structure. Some politicians are waking up to this fact. However, I think it is just way too little way too late to have any Genuine impact in preventing our sorely needed and long time coming common mans revolution.

Also, the decline in durable goods is going to (I believe) significantly impact the business personal property tax revenue stream of counties/states. I have't been able to quantify it yet, but it appears to be a material portion of commercial property revenue in places like LA county.

Great ticker, thanks.

bout time to get me shorts on. Looking more and more reminiscent of the GD1 chart. Kind of like they took the GD1 chart and smooshed it together a little. Everything is happening a little quicker in the internet age it seems. If it works like I think it will we roll over pretty soon.
