Politicians are full of piffle. Here in the UK they made a huge thing about a big scheme to help households avoid repossession of their home. Q. How many households have been helped so far? A. 2.

Since the US will never be actually able to pay off all this debt anyway, it sounds like we're headed for a war regardless. Chk Chk Boom.

Thing is, you can be as ****ed with the chinese if you want, but there's only one reason they got into that position, the US government. Why can't ANY politician use their brains. I guess it's Probably because they don't have any. Here we go with the war talk. Humans are total dumb ****s ---------- When does Keanu get here? Last modified:

Moroni, I've always been of the belief that as soon as you go into debt, you lose control of your own destiny. I believe that to apply personally, equally to a nation, perhaps to a lesser extent. Surely China's domination of the US has come from the collective unsustainable behaviours that have built up over time, that leaves you indebted to them? Commend your patriotism, but not being Americn myself leaves me to stand back from the emotion of the issue. Cheers

"Hanging would be too good for such vermin." Agree. You would expect our current government to abolish our right to bear arms and our ability to fight back. Don't be surprised for that to happen next. ---------- Labor for the Globalist: World Class means Third World Class.

Gen - aside from the RMB denominated bond issue, would you agree that the time is coming sooner or later where the US will not actually be able to pay all the debt they will/have issued? Collectively it's potenitally about 350% of GDP on a chart you provided. Are you suggesting that as soon as people say pay up you say bite me as well while pointing a 12 guage?

Aus, please be distinct between ACTUAL DEBT and "promises." Note that the "actual debt" owed by the government at this juncture (public float) is about $6 trillion. We CAN pay that. If we perfect the other $12ish trillion in "promises" made in the last year + the other ~$53 trillion in social spending, there is no chance we will pay it back. But we do not have to do that, and a political promise isn't a debt. Yet, anyway. As for the private debts we have no business backstopping them. Period. Those who issued debt privately they cannot pay should default and the lenders should get soaked for whatever deficiency comes out of recovery. Market discipline is the only thing that works to control such idiocy. ---------- "The monetary base in ALL modern monetary systems is the sum of unencumbered assets against which one is both WILLING AND ABLE to borrow." - Me Last modified:
