We've been a joke for a long time. We've just had most of the cash and most of the new weapons toys so people aren't open about it. The people that matter, bankers and military people respect us. To everyone else, we are sort of like the William Shatner of the civilized world.

What those Chinese students don't think about is we've single handed propped up their economy by buying Happy Meal toys by the billions. They were nice enough to loan us the money to do it - but does that mean they are any less guilty of relying upon the ole bubble economics. Of the C's of credit how many do we as Americans have Character?????? Capacity???????? Collateral???? I'm not sure they have done us or themselves any favors. I'm not worried though as I have a priceless collection of Spongebob action characters stored away in a chest. ---------- "These are interesting times. We don't trust the government, we don't trust the legal system, we don't trust the media, and we don't trust each other! We've undermined all authority, and with it, the basis for replacing it! Yeah, but you can't tell them that mdude or they might get ****ed off enough to kamikaze us and themselves. Geithner: "Well, it isn't just our fault. You guys lent us the money! You enabled us! I realize you're going to lose decades of savings, and yes, you have my sympathies." Fuk Yu: "Enable THIS funny white devil." (Geithner Leaves) Fuk Yu to lieutenant: "We broke rule numma one. We should never have trusted a foreigner who speaks Chinese! Sell!" ---------- I'm so depressed about outsourcing I called the suicide hotline and got a call center in Pakistan. This incident is particularly humiliating coming from a student body that has been conditioned by forced not to combat authority. Beyond embarrassing.

I also note that the Chinese sent Mr. Yu, a past adviser to their central bank, to school Mr. Geithner. This guy's been screaming about America's credit worthiness for about a year. Now, the Chinese are both a lot smarter than folks tend to believe and very steeped in decorum/honor. To use a "former adviser" to school Mr. Geithner, the sitting U.S. Sec. Treasury, displays either a low level of esteem for Mr. Geithner (who could blame them?) or very high regard for Mr. Yu's ability to convince. I was hoping to hear some signals from this meeting as regards Chana's intentions with regard to this week's long bond sales. Clearly China is uncomfortable. The question is, will that discomfort result in low or non-involvement in the auction. We'll see. ---------- short em all - let God sort em out!

TMD, it's the Character part of the 3 Cs that is the hardest to 'fix', and I feel that is what we have compromised the most. No morals, ethics or taking of responsibility. Everyone is a scammer, but the worst scammers are those in power. You cannot trust them and of course no one is being prosecuted, so you can throw out the fairness and justice parts of the character equation too. ---------- Think Green Tip.

...And after the laughter they report that he said, "Our financial system has already begun the reconstruction, the Government will in the future to maintain the status of a strong dollar." But not sure if that was followed by even more laughter. Wonder if he wrapped up by saying, 'Tse, Tse, I'm here all week!'

I seem to recall Rush talking about this yesterday in his last hour. While the Chinese think they are holding all the cards on this, I see no way they will ever be repaid on those notes they hold. Looking into my crystal ball, I see some very, very ****ed off Chinese when we renege on paying back what is owed. Will they go to war over it? Wouldn't surprise me if it comes to that, particularly if the depression in America causes our purchases of their Chinese manufactured merchandise to decline substantially. John

Tells me that, 1. The joke is obvious 2. The students are much less sheeple than in the past, expressing themselves in a way which in the past the Chi gov might have thought embarassing politically in the past. ---------- Our elected take an oath to serve. Time to add: “I will not serve in a capacity which I am not able to comprehend or am incapable of by mental defect of any kind, nor will I use the excuse of intellective deficiency if found in violation of this oath/affirmation”, which backs charging wayward politicians with treason.
