Again, the Obama-loving media will roll over and applaud the effort. Can you imagine how ape**** they would have gone if Bush had tried to have an on/off switch to the internet, satellite, cell phone and telephone networks??? Hahahahaa... I simply do not have enough weapons. ---------- Think Green Tip.

Sounds to me like they are scared of the power of the internet to incite violence against the government. What other way can you quickly reach the masses with very little cost? The internet.

Steph, perhaps foolishness is a better term. But having an internet law like this proposed by a Rockefeller just makes loads of noise to me. It's playing right into the conspiracy twits worldview and it will make a roar on the net. What I meant by stupid is that this might fuel the fire even more in ways the kings of hubris haven't realised. Worst case it will take precedence on net and media for a lot of people and thus lead water from the tie-up-the-banksters-movement. Ah might not do a ****, but what a hell of a bad move.

What they can't control, they fear. The hallmark of tyrants. But can they control communications like they'd like? Quote:Finally, there is a provision within this draft allowing The President to order disconnection of any "critically important" infrastructure - but it does not define what that is, once again, granting effective plenary authority to The President to silence communications irrespective of Constitutional protections regarding Free Speech. For instance, does the technical capability exist to single out and shut down TF? I guess since warrantless wiretaps didn't create much noise, we may as well take over the systems themselves.

Considering the fact that the .gov can no longer use the MSM to be their propaganda machine, they are relying on the old saying of "making sure there is only 1 side of the story to tell" and they want it to be theirs. Karl, you get a good bit of your info from the net and your last few tickers have RAMMED the truth up their ass slap to the root and apparently their cornholes are getting a bit sore. However if they get an on/off switch for net, cell phones, ect. whats to stop them from flipping the switch off and trying to makes some door to door collections via ignoring the 2nd adm.? without our being able to communicate be tough to warn others of their intentions, although my thoughts might be a bit reynolds wrap, but its just what came to mind when I read this ticker.

in urban areas, the density of wifi hotspots is gaining critical mass for a peer to peer "internet", outside of using the internet itself. What am I gonna do without pornhub.com They can do a lot of things, they can even take away American Idol. But if they take away my internet porn I will revolt. But seriously without a terrorist attack using the internet they better not shut it off. ---------- "These are interesting times.
