I just had breakfast at the local diner and read the local (left-wing) rag. I think this thing is starting to take off. Here's the headline and lead paragraph:Quote:
You can read the whole article at http://www.star-telegram.com/804/story/1.... ---------- Wherever fate my vessel steers, that image never disappears. In times of joy and times of tears, her song still echoes in my ears.

DC - there was some pro-Republican talk (ie. signs I voted for Palin) but from talking to some folks there and based on what I heard it seemed in the main non-partisan.

One of the biggest disappointments for me in my lifetime was watching my less government parrty become the party which was only there to cater to the captains of industry. Most of the Republican leadership needs to resign and go home. And maybe pull up a lawn chair and watch the people at these tea parties. The Republican party needs new leadership and maybe some of it can be found in those organizing these protests. I'm not in the fair tax, no tax, wrong tax camp on these protests. I don't give a damn about taxes. I'm middle America thru and thru and they won't change much for me. But you're damn right I'm ****ed about the looting of America and for me that is what the protest is about. No more bailouts for corporate interests. ---------- "These are interesting times. We don't trust the government, we don't trust the legal system, we don't trust the media, and we don't trust each other! We've undermined all authority, and with it, the basis for replacing it! Exactly the same experience in my podunk nothing burger town. No partisanship, wide variety of about 200-250 people. LOTS of cars honking support. Edit: Local paper says over 1000 visited courthouse from 11a-1p!!!! ---------- Breathe deep, the gathering gloom... Last modified:

Damn KD, well written ticker, will be copied and left on the counter at my printshop for customers to take, who also see the "Stop the Looting, start Prosecuting" sign on the wall behind the counter. Thank you.

Hold Tea Parties on the fifteenth of every month. If attendance stays high - or, better yet, gets higher - PTB and MSM might actually start crapping their pants. Speech-wise, "Don't Loot! Prosecute!" is similar to "stop the looting, start prosecuting," but it rhymes better. Maybe get some nuggets in there as well like, "This month, we taxpayers are only a quarter of the way to paying off the bankers for this year." Most of all, have an organized front that speaks with one message that could be in no way considered "partisan," and also set up interviews with reporters in advance. It'd be more work for the MSM to spin the Parties as "right-wing," "anti-tax," etc., if the reporters spoke to actual organizers instead of Joe Random who says it's God's wrath or something. It'd also be more work for potential "hijackers" to muscle in. ---------- The shrewdest of the great generals in China's history once said that perfection in war lay in so sapping the opponent's will that he surrenders without fighting.

You got that right, Mortgage Dude. In no way did I mean to endorse the Texas governor by posting that story, I think he's just blowing with the wind. But the current senator, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, is expected to take him on in the Republican primary next year, and he clearly has a sense of which way the wind is blowing. It will be interesting to see what Sen. Hutchinson does in Washington. . With a handful of exceptions, though, the Republican elected leaders need to retire. They had their chance and completely blew it, time to get out of the way and let new leaders emerge. I was so disgusted (and still am) that I voted straight Libertarian last November. . In any case, I don't want to turn this into a political rant, would hate to get banned by Karl. It's exciting to see something finally develop at the grass roots, kudos to Karl and others who helped lay the groundwork. ---------- Wherever fate my vessel steers, that image never disappears. Quote:
The biggest applause at the Dallas rally came when one speaker just seemed to blurt out, "Texas should just seal the border and secede" Reading this ticker, I was once again thankful that I happened to read http://www.mises.org/store/OLD-Money-Ban.... that book a couple of years ago. I didn't really understand where money came from before reading that book and having read it, the events of our time have become so understandable. Anyway, wrt the ticker - of course THEY KNOW that when they make a loan they are issuing money and diluting all the outstanding money and profiting thereby. The power to issue money is a public trust which THEY KNOWINGLY abused. BTW: Averaging two estimates by inexperienced estimators, we estimated 3500 at the Dallas rally. There were also events to my knowledge in Rowlett, Richardson, Plano and a couple of others mentioned by the speakers. ---------- Health is better than health insurance http://gerson.org/ Over the past 60 years, thousands of people have used the Gerson Therapy to recover from so-called “incurable” diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease and arthritis. I basically woke up when my business slowed way down and I had some extra time to peruse the internet and found great sites like this one to catch up on years of learning. The internet is akin to the Gutenberg press, its potential to inform average people at a rapid rate is amazing. I would think that .corpgov would notice that as they degrade the economy through proven ineffective policies that will generate more free time for average folks like myself to become informed and catch up on what our public education system lacked as well as time to become involved in effective grass roots organizations like the Tea Parties. Bernanke, Geithner, et al would be prudent to take notice of what is happening and follow the wise advice given on this web site and others like it. ---------- "In short, you are the definition of moral hazard." I am deeply disappointed that Air America treated the Tea Parties as a manifestation of right wing kooks. Somehow, a radio network aimed at giving voice to liberal/populist ideals has become the mindless mouthpiece of the current administration which I consider to be a part of or coopted by the corporatocracy. I am no conservative - yet had I had the time, I would have joined the protest (but would have avoided the "I voted for Palin" sign carriers) to voice my opinion that the U.S. government is currently playing reverse Robin Hood - taking from the common people and giving to the rich. Suddenly, this has become acceptable to the left because it is being pursued by the Obama administration? WTF? Beware Obama, yesterday it was a box of tea bags hurled onto your lawn, what might the people bring tomorrow? Karl gets it. Justice is non-partisan. It is neither liberal nor conservative. But justice underpins social order. Injustice leads to disorder and Obama's policies are unjust. It is justice we want first - then we can argue about whether socialist or capitalist concepts will best serve We the People into the future. I look forward to that day. ---------- short em all - let God sort em out!

Most of the Republican leadership needs to resign and go home. And maybe pull up a lawn chair and watch the people at these tea parties. The Republican party needs new leadership and maybe some of it can be found in those organizing these protests. ----------------------- In my home town, according to the online version of my home town newspaper, it was a local republican operative that organized the tea party protest. Not exactly grass roots. A pox on both parties, as far as i am concerned. Both are parties to the same game, although from different directions. It is all about getting elected, then re-elected, to these polititians. "It's the economy stupid". Every first term President wants to be re-elected. If President Bush had allowed the corrective bust to occur, after the 90's boom, he would not have likley been re-elected. Thus all the stops were pulled out, which created a bigger mess to be cleaned up, but had the economy humming along in 2004. President Obama could do the right thing, but again, he wants to be re-elected in 2012, so he is running parabolic deficits. While i want to see the runaway spending stop, i did not attend any tea party protest, because i have the feeling i am being gamed for someone elses ulterior motives. It really bothered me that the tea party in my middle America typical small town, was being engineered by the local republicans, rather than Floyd, the local Maybery barber.

The internal threat in Washington (i.e. TPTB) would be wise to heed the words of an old external threat, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." - IJN Admiral Isoruku Yamamoto sidenote: I know there is a bit of murkiness surrounding the origins of this quote, the diary in which Yamomoto is claimed to have written these words has never been found, but it is still fitting none the less.

It's a start, but there's a lot more work ahead if we're serious about this. A LOT OF WORK. We'll eventually have to cough up our own cash, too, to finance this... and if we don't have to, then we know it's a fraud, since some greater interest is at hand. "Freedom isn't free."
