If anyone asks "is this legal" or "can I get in trouble" Then I think I am going to lose it. Those of you who are too scared to do this need to grow a pair.

Side note: I am an American citizen living abroad and I will be sending in some Lipton with the rest of you patriots.

Me hopes the price of tea rises due to decreased supply in stores. I'll be buying my first box of tea soon.

Before doing so, perhaps we should research that this proposed act doesn't fall under the Patriot act - wouldn't want to cause an evacuation of a government building, would we?

Its a bag of tea Ward. I specifically stated A BAG (not loose) so that on immediate inspection it is obvious that it is non-hazardous.

Obviously including something stupid (e.g. a threatening letter, etc) is a VERY bad idea. Don't.

What is the best previous Ticker document that succinctly summarizes the entire "issue" to assist with tea-bag sender recruitment?

That's true. If you're uncomfortable sending an ACTUAL teabag, there's an image for you to print and send.

Can't argue with THAT.

Info on the 1st tea party. On a side note, only 116 patriots took part, but it was the spark that lit the nation and brought about the beginning of the American revolution.

Yep.

The symbolism will be UNMISTAKABLE. Believe me, nobody in DC is going to miss the clear message embedded in that one.

Now the question. Are they to be sent ON Feb 1st? Or to arrive BY Feb 1st?

Mainly because Feb 1st is a Sunday.

Karl - you are now living in the world that Bush created ( and which to some extent you appear to agree with - Guantanamo etc.) where mothers can get convicted of terrorism for spanking their children. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/.... The act you propose is symbolic, but the NSA won't know that until they can analyze the bags ... a different world indeed.

If we all mail on or around February 1st the point will get made. Due to mailing delays (plus I'm SURE the Capitol mailroom will intercept these and check them out) I expect that it will get noticed almost immediately but will continue to drip in for a couple of weeks.

This has a high probability of getting some press.

Ward, there is nothing illegal about sending a TEA BAG through the mail. It is unlawful to send anything HARMFUL through the mail - a teabag is not harmful, it is not threatening, and it is not intended to intimidate.

There is ALWAYS an excuse for why people won't show up and participate in PEACEFUL PROTEST which is a guaranteed Constitutional right. You are free to be a pussified American if you insist, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let you run that line of **** here on my forum. I've shown up in DC, waved signs and took a simulated CRAP in the toilet we had there for the TARP - all of which I'm sure got caught on hundreds of Capitol Security Cameras, and I don't give a ****.

These acts are EXPLICITLY CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED - period.
