I remember scenes like that in the States as a kid (Lakes Eire, and parts of Lake Michigan). How about China's problem with the yachting venue in Qingdao? Algal blooms needing to be cleaned by armies of people. Don't forget Anhueser - Busch needing to close a brewery because of pollution in a river.

India is even worse. Edit: No, I take that back after seeing the entire article. However, it can be pretty bad too. ---------- If you’re looking for the bottom of the market there’s a special offer − buy one, you get the next one free. Last modified:

I linked this at one the forums here a week or two back. My wife, an environmental chemist, was aghast when I showed it to her. My 13 yr old was likewise. This is to some degree reminiscent of what they found in East Germany after the wall came down. I'm not surprised, though, given this is a COMMUNIST COUNTRY!!!! On the other hand WHAT THE **** DOES THAT MAKE US?

Im glad you highlighted this Karl. People need to understand the repercussions to destroying our land. This is something the people cant blame on the ****ing government this is 100% the private sector that does this. I think we need to highlight the type of country we are doing business with legalized slavery, child labor, destroying the planet, call it protectionism or whatever but I think its time for tariffs. Its time to level the playing field. Let me make this clear I DONT GIVE A **** ABOUT GLOBALIZATION I care about America. You want to do business with us then you play by the same rules. Edit to add:But on top of that we only have one earth just one so we NEED to take care of it. This isnt a left loon idea this is as conservative in origin as you get. ---------- My views are my view and mine alone. Karl or ticker forum does not endorse or necessarily agree with my views. It's not just China that has these horror scenes. Google "Alang Ship Breaking" Alang is a town in India where ships are dismantled for scrap. There are several photo essays that show the workers' conditions & environmental impact.

Don't worry cap and trade will fix these imbalances by forcing 1st world countries to pay guilt fees to 3rd world countries who along with 2nd world countries will not be required to adhere to any environmental standards

Pollution in China? Shocking! But but but their government keeps promising that they will adopt the most stringent environmental standards in the world. I, too have some pics that are mindblowing.

Capitalism at its finest baby! Its cheaper to exploit and pollute so they can please all the foreign investors that pour money into that country each day. This seems to be a cycle everywhere in the world. You start out by ****ting where you eat, and then slowly export your **** to where others eat.

disgusting. I passed this one around with the simple "Made in China" subject. One friend replied with this. Thought I'd share: Remember Minamata: http://iconicphotos.files.wordpress.com/.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomoko_Uemu.... Disturbing.
