Sadly..in short...I think the answer is yes.
---------- “'That speech was phenomenal, Barack,’ I told him. And I will never forget his response. Without the barest hint of braggadocio or conceit, and with what I would describe as deep humility, he said quietly: ‘I have a gift, Harry.’” - D Senator Harry Reid's 2008 autobiography The Good Fight 2008-11-16 00:57:55

http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.c.... It seems Karl, that we are all but certain to experience a depression. I really wonder what it is going to take for people to wake up. 2008-11-16 01:05:11

http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.c.... Really looks like depression is almost assured. Governments have clearly indicated that the status quo will be maintained. A co-ordinated global effort to f*ck everyone over. Unf*cking believable. 2008-11-16 01:18:10

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=2.... I think implicit in this little sequence, is the fact that Obama approves of Hank Paulson's sh*t. I really cannot stand this anymore. I am reaching breaking point. In light of this sh*t, how much do we shed on the Dow and S&P Monday? Last modified:

Freedom of speech - Obama won't hire anyone unless they provide all entries that they ever posted on blogs... even under aliases. The postings reporting requirement makes some sense as getting hired and discovery ones online identity just isn't suited for the part costs a lot of taxpayer's money. I'm like personally "speechless." Just in case some kind of retroactive "taxpayer" provision goes into being... mum is good. GASP! I voted for him, but am quickly realizing Obama will be more of the same. Clinton third term. All Clinton cabinet and Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. We are so screwed.

you're an inspiration Karl, as always. on a side note. I was travelling yesterday from Nijmegen, Netherlands to Hamburg, Germany and decided to stop in Bremen, Germany for lunch. There I witnessed a rather small but dramatic neo-nazi protest made by a couple of hundred young people dressed in black and wearing sunglasses on a rainy / dreary day. I don't speak German but the girl shouting on the megaphone mentioned financial / depression many times. 100's of police in full riot gear were very present, I can't begin to explain the rush of the moment occuring in this beautiful / medieval setting - the feeling that all hell was about to break lose at any moment. The Germans know how to put on a dramatic rally, I've never seen anything like this in the US but am hoping / expecting to sometime soon. 2008-11-16 03:01:19

Since you specifically asked. At the cost of being redundant. "Too many Big Macs!!!" You inspired me to write one letter after another to every Congressperson and Senator in both states I had homes in. Always the same BS response. Worthless waste of time. Fat lazy bastards my old countrymen... Now I am in Rio.. Thin Hot chicks and people that take to the streets to fight the violence and corruption :-) !! I can make a difference once again, just not there. 2008-11-16 07:05:08

"The well doesn't have an infinite amount of water in it".......So true and probably a concept that most congressfolk don't quite get. They all seem to have the same response, throw more cash/credit at the problem and that hasn't and will not work.

Even more priceless... There are over 42 million American adults, 20 percent of whom hold high school diplomas, who cannot read, as well as the 50 million who read at a fourth- or fifth-grade level. Nearly a third of the nation's population is illiterate or barely literate. And their numbers are growing by an estimated 2 million a year. But even those who are supposedly literate retreat in huge numbers into this image-based existence. A third of high school graduates, along with 42 percent of college graduates, never read a book after they finish school. Eighty percent of the families in the United States last year did not buy a book. Protest.. they want to protest.. Problem is they can't read the street names to get there. Have a nice Sunday! 2008-11-16 07:47:33

If you want to see real protest, you should come to INDIA. At least once a year you will have either All India BUNDH (WHOLE INDIA WILL BE SHUT) or State Wide BUNDH. Some or the other political party will call for BUNDH. Thanks for all of your good work, Karl.

I apologize for not being able to put my finger on this specifically; 1) I remember very clearly that there was a discussion here on TF from that time about a disclosure from someone (Sherwood? Kaptur? McCodder?) that much of the $ was targeted for foreigners. 2) I have read that over 40% of the population is on Prozac or equivalent ... and YES absolutely that fact explains much of the non-reaction that's been witnessed to what has been occurring. 2008-11-16 08:42:54

Have you noticed the deterioration in TV advertising? Cheap, animated commercials for even big ticket products? Until a sideline network goes down due to lack of revenue, and folks can't tune into non-rerun, bull**** home decorating or specialty shows, half the population won't have a clue. Only an interruption in TV cable fare will elicit a response. I'm putting my meager funds into preparing to ride this out, wish I could go to D.C. but I had to change my med dose after the election. This was deliberate, and the PTB are complicit in ignoring the treasonous actions of Paulson. Of course now he is the chief PTB. As to motive: http://www.pbs.org/wsw/news/fortuneartic.... Give him and a bunch of overseas allies a couple trillion to buy and control islands, lands of ecologically favorite "hot spots" around the world, and they'll be happy. Too many people in the US will want their heads...they're gonna book overseas and be untraceable. Obama might have been told a depression, civil unrest is inevitable many months ago. His "civilian national security force" idea might have germinated in this...granted, he likes that stuff anyway, but now sees how it would fly in a SHTF scenario. Might be the only way a lot of those folks will have regular meals in 6 or 12 months. Very scary. Many of us are picking our battles. Don't interpret this apparent apathy (few in Congress will act) with not planning for a REAL opportunity to set things straight via in-the-streets or in-the-media protest, and mobilization. I bet lots of us have pretty cool ideas up our sleeves about now. 2008-11-16 09:50:58
