Karl, This is a response to your current and last ticker about "what's this market about." The bounce was clearly expected due to technical levels, and you called it just right. The bounce is also largely due to the belief that so much money is being thrown at the system that the banks will finally start lending. The problem is that many workers are losing their jobs; watching their salaries and benefits being cut, or their retirements disappear. As such, the borrower is not willing or unable to borrow, so it does not matter how much money is handed out to the banks. This explains my thought. ![]() 2009-03-13 13:02:55

Gen, neither Gibbs nor the media (nor the public) understands any of this: tarp, talf, siv, on/off balance sheet... Their eyes just glaze over... They cannot call out anyone, much less someone from Obama's dream team. ---------- Think Green Tip. 2009-03-13 13:03:47

Clearly more evidence that we are being ****ed on and told it's raining. I believe I am beginning to feel what it's like to be a communist... The MSM has been fully complicit with the Obama regime. Maybe he's referring to when it initially passed in the senate (rather than the house)?

When I saw this in the daily briefing yesterday, I was shocked. I went looking there out of boredom. I must admit I went looking for something else (questions about the news reports of the lack of Treasury appts), but this just jumped out at me. It is good you did this Ticker, as the true history must be known- not mainly as a "gotcha" to any President, but a reminder that when pols say something, take it with a grain of salt. Especially about something this important. This is THE issue now- the financial system and the economy.

The bottom fell out of the government's credibility when a certain President went on national TV, wagged his finger at us, and declared "I did not have sex with that woman". I was watching it live with a friend, and when he did that we looked at each other in shock that the President of the United States would so obviously and blatantly lie right to our faces. I view that as the moment, and the vote in which the Senate allowed this open high misdemeanor to stand unpunished, as the tipping point in our culture when a crash became inevitable. ---------- or it could rocket higher! 2009-03-13 13:38:39

Email sent to the White House requesting clarification. I'm not holding my breath for a response.

Send Jon Stewart a copy - he may be the only media figure to air it. He might even make a special show just around the most talked about topic of these days.

From today's Ottawa CitizenQuote:Prime Minister Stephen Harper said the global recession was caused by American consumers and investors who believed in the “unconservative” idea that they could borrow without consequences. Harper claims to have a masters degree in economics. Can his understanding of the crisis really be so shallow? Has he no advisers worth their salary? My sense is that our politicians think they can solve this by singing 'Don't worry be happy' to us. Not only are they going to avoid doing the right thing.... they are going to ask you to like it and support it, then shove the Chrysler building up our asses if we let them. There is growing seething anger among the people that is not being shown in MSM. Pretty soon they won't be able to hide it. But we need not buy into that violence. That is what they want so they can put us away. Gibbs will be out soon. It's one thing to lie. That's kind of the job, after all. It's another to be so obviously lying, stammering, etc. They'll get a better liar soon, and Gibbs will be off to "spend more time with his family".
