And in addition, why on earth would this be set for release during the chairman's congressional committee questioning unless you are intending to game the market?

I saw that last night and was wondering what was up. The strange thing was how the E-minis were flat before and flat after -- like they did a quick levitation act -- although they did slowly drift back down during the night.

To me, the markets today look like they got a HUGE jolt of liquidity, everything seems to be up against the dollar. Crude oil up over $2, what's Bernie going to do when it hits $100?

Looks like he's already doing that. Bond futures hitting new highs for the day, up over 3/4 point, just after crude and currencies hit new highs too.

One of these is wrong. If currencies and commodities are spiking up, then bonds should be going down. Unless, of course, the FOMC decided to expand the QE purchases of bonds and not announce it. I guess that would not be a total surprise.

You're a smart guy, Karl. You know damn good and well that the cops are on the payroll. There's only one thing we retail investors can do, and that is pull our liquidity now. ALL OF IT. The one thing that should scare these guys more than anything is the exit of the retail investor. I'll go first. I'm not playing in a sandbox full of kitty litter. I quit. Have fun Goldie. Have fun Mother Merrill. You guys deserve each other.

I don't see how this is any different than anything else being done. The taxpayer will pay for every cent lost in this mess, letting GS, MS, Citi and BoA front run this news, lets them earn a buck or two from everyone, even international investors. This actually saves the taxpayer money.

Ok, so it is illegal. And will seriously undermine long term confidence in financial markets from both US and foreign investors. And it will come crashing down again, so that the real effect of this might very well be negative for those involved.

You get so used to being ****ed, that after a while you hardly notice it anymore. I am in BOHICA mood these days:

It's OK. Maybe too soon to say, but as I type this rally is melting away. I saw that last night and actually shorted at 907 and covered this AM at 898 for a quick 9 pts.
Not saying it's right, but I learned the hard way about this BS and I rarely carry any positions overnight. It's worked wonders for my portfolio and sleep patterns.

Why should this have any bearing on the quarterly bankster welfare payments?

If the taxpayer saves money, then the banksters lose money in unrealized profits.

Profits are God. Nothing else matters.

These institutions have a debt that exceeds the productive capacity of the planet. They can no longer grow through normal business practices. They can't even survive in a real market economy. They are too big for the planet to support in this manner.

To keep them growing, they must be fed massive sacrifices. The bailouts must become institutionalized and grow quarterly.

And sure, the long term consequences of this is horrible, but these institutions are too big to fail. We must sacrifice everything to save them. Gotta survive the short term before you worry about the long term, right? Mammon get angry if we refuse to sacrifice.

If the bailouts grow at a moderate rate of of 3% a quarter, than we can project the payouts for a starting rate of say $100 billion for a bank thusly...

@ Centurion... If they are not playing by the rules why should we?

Well we could start by ceasing to pay tribute in the form of taxes to a government captured by banksters and corporations. Just my .02

Does the government need our taxes?

The payment on the debt exceeds revenue. The gov now borrows money to pay the interest on money already borrowed.
