Of course it's outrageous. It's also the norm for DC. Pass the blame, stay the course. Works every time. Obama could, in one day, fire some people, issue some admin orders, and solve this "enforcement" problem, and still have time for lunch and a round of golf. The REAL question is: WHY the hell won't he? ---------- I always leave cookies.

And to top it off, the 'regulation' they are being 'asked' to accept 'for their country' is BS sideshow stuff about consumer protection (i.e. 'assume everyone is too dumb to read the fine print' laws). While people 'debate' this sideshow item, the distraction will allow the financial industry to avoid any sort of serious reform.

Can someone answer this? is there ever going to be a time when these banks implode and the Fed cannot bail them out anymore? Im waiting for that day. Im tired of hearing what these Banks and Wallstreet are getting away with. When is it going to end, or is it?

"Financial institutions that have benefited from government support can, should and must use this moment to think about what they can do for their country" What in blazes is this crap? Quote:and the Fed cannot bail them out anymore? That will happen when foreign capital understands the true default risk of the United States of America. "Banks should be given three years to raise capital for offsetting assets and liabilities that must be brought onto their balance sheets, Citigroup Chief Financial Officer John Gerspach said yesterday in a letter to regulators. Requiring banks to “assume the risk-based capital effects immediately, or even over one year, is an undeniably severe penalty,” he wrote." Translation: The banksters need the three years to continue spearing their chump banking customers for $38.5 billion a year in "overdraft fees" and other forms of "The Swindle". ---------- ===== Take your red pill daily @ The Market Ticker, with your host Karl "Morpheus" Denninger Last modified:

Interesting factoid tossed out by a Keycorp Bank executive in the Cleveland Plain dealer today. 25%! of the mortgage brokers in Ohio in 2006 had felony records! Now if the largest bank in that state knew this, and felony convictions are typically public information, why were they doing business with ex-cons?

>How about this Larry? >"Financial institutions will be placed under strong regulation and capital controls. We will mark every asset to the market, we will investigate all the fraud, we will force all off-balance sheet "assets" back on balance sheet and we will stop the looting." These people are the henchman of big banks in my opinion and are too scared to offend their masters. I do not think govt. has anything to do with the Joe6Pacs losing the job and moving under the overpass.

tamparick, no offense but this is extremely kindergarten level stuff for those of us who are actually informed. As one who knows the ins and outs here in DC, let me explain that this video, is pretty pointless since it doesn't actually make or address any specific accusations. If you just dislike the 'jewish lobby' then it may seem like it resonates with some imaginary accusation. When candidates go to the French embassy, they say 'We have a special relationship with France' and when candidates go to Panamanian festival, they say 'We have a special relationship with Panama...' and when they go to a car-making factory, they say the auto industry is the heart of american economy, and when they go to a high tech conference they say the high tech industry is the heart of american economy, etc., etc. That's the form, and just the normal ass-kissing that goes on in a democracy where you're pandering for votes. And when you put it on tape and act as if you're catching something significant, it's just because you haven't been around these events enough. I understand this video was made by some Dutch chick, and not a DC insider, so I forgive her ignorance, but she's just wayyyyyy off. Let me just tell you from the ground here in DC, this video is sorta worthless because it doesn't get into the implicit accusation which is that they make any difference or create any net change. I'm not going to put hours into rebuttal because it's really just doesn't even make the cut. Basically ALL the lobbies and PACs play these silly games because that's how democracy works. The only advocacy I saw in the video was a Christian preacher discussing getting the word out supporting Israel, which obviously isn't what anyone would think of in the jewish/Israel lobby, but thats just a guy representing his Christian congregation and their beliefs, which again, is what democracy is supposed to be about. So the video brings up the Iraq war but then never establishes that Jews or AIPAC influenced it at all. Where's ANYthing in this video of any substance at all? So one weird slurring ex-congressman who was voting on the wrong side of an issue blames his failure on someone else... yeah that's convincing (sarcasm). If you you think you saw anything in this video, you didn't. It's some sort of Roschasch test onto which you're projecting your thoughts (whatever they may be).

I know this was discussed in another thread a while back but I just received a letter today from Citibank Master Card. They are raising my rates to 29.99% and I have a credit score of 800. I pay my bills in full each month and my bills usually run $1200-2000/mo. They are also increasing the transaction fees for balance transfers to 5% of the balance. How nice, we will force you out but we will kick you in the ass as you leave. P.S. I have had this account for better than 20 years. Last modified:

Patriot, I just received a rate increase from my LOCAL credit union. From 10% to 15%. Same deal as you..........will I take it? What do you think?? Not a chance in hell. I mostly use it to travel and buy some on line. I can use Paypal for most of that. They even have a debit card.......Screw them all. I have closed out 4 accounts in 3 months now. I don't know if there is one left not using this business model. My ready cash is in ING.......... Quote:Patriot, if you don't carry a balance why do you care? The same reason I care. Lk, I'll spell it out. This is an OUTRAGE. They pay what, .5% to the average guy? And then charge this crap? They need the vote of the consumer leaving their asses. I vote with my money, the same as I do with my ballot. We need more like Patriot to shove it up their asses. IF i had a big enough balance, I'd just hide most and BK on their fat asses.....I hope more start to get it. ---------- I always leave cookies.
