What's the motive for the press waking up, if indeed it is occuring. It's not like the information they're presenting is new. They've just chosen to NOT write about until now. Why?

It's about money. The people know the press is helping to hide the sausage for the gov. The press is losing viewers and readers. They are starting to latch on to the stories the people want to hear (the truth) because if they do not they are going to continue to fade into the oblivion of irrelevance and eventually be out of business, IMHO.

If I were to only watch CNBS, I'd say no. Perhaps Kneale and his cohorts might have better ratings if they did start waking up. If it doesn't help them keep their jobs with Comcast, it might provide them with security when looking for another job.

Call me a cynic, but this only looks like a sign that the game is almost up. The press looks like the weakest kid in the group of thugs. When they are pretty sure the group is going to be busted, they squeal first. 2009-10-30 08:57:55

As much as some posters dislike Michael Moore for his position on health care, Iraq, guns, Ford, etc. At least among the people I know, his comments lately about Geithner's ineptitude have been chipping away at the big facade.

Did the MSM thoroughly vet our President for the most powerful and influential position in the World? That would be NO. What on Earth makes anyone think they will expose the Wall St/DC gravy train? Their GUY is in charge and he is quite comfortable with his Wall St power base. In fact, Barry Hussein is benefiting from it. I agree this article is a start and that the blog world has been on to it for a while... but come on. Short of an all out implosion and collapse of the market, you'll get no prosecuting and the looting will continue to morph and find new/better/more efficient/more obscure ways to siphon off your money. ---------- Think Green Tip. 2009-10-30 09:11:13

The press were true believers. Few of them are deep thinkers. They are joiners and social creatures. The sort of weak willed who fawned on the football players in high school. Now their godhead is falling from grace faster than any President has ever managed to do - failing utterly to deal with emergencies that call for heroic statesmanship and the unflinching application of power. Instead we have a whining community organizer who desperately needs to sneak out back for a smoke he can't even be seen taking. Like any high school cliche they will abandon anyone in a heartbeat who might lose their popularity and subject their fanboys to mockery. 2009-10-30 09:27:55

The Dallas Observer is a free paper you pick up at restaurants and bars, the largest section is the restaurant reviews and what bands are playing . . . not sure that would be "MSM." They do have a history of doing investigative type stories on Dallas city hall, and this one is great. Along the lines of what Beck has been doing, exposing the people at the helm. Its pretty clear the answer is "FELON" Holder will do nothing. ---------- OBAMA: "You know, if -- frankly, it's not really something I've followed closely. TXin - looks like they are a syndicate of the Village Voice, so I would imagine this is popping up in most big metro's. Not quite mainstream, but respected enough in certain circles who like to think of themselves as influential. Let's hope so. As for the piece, yeah it was good, but then again I'm already a member of his congregation. I'm afraid, though, that it's too long to convert many who aren't. Hopefully the headline is powerful enough. 2009-10-30 09:59:29

MSM are generally Owned by Wealthy Financiers and Corporate Interests tied to .gov; and will be generally subservient to the whims of Their Owners irregardless of Viewership or Readership: the MSM are devolved into mere .gov & Corporate Propaganda Dissemination Vehicles. The 'Free Press' & MSM are rapidly becoming mutually exclusive conceptually and categorically. IMHO, the true contemporary 'Free Press' is primarily exhibited by Blogospheric formations; an extension of both Oral Traditions & the Hidden Printing Presses that were instrumental in such activities as the early renegade translation of the Bible or the dissemination of American Revolutionary Era type Populist Messages in the form of pamphlets. As to the Time To Do The Right Thing: That is NOW, With THIS Administration. The Ballot Box Is NOT Working. Two Parties: Both Corrupt Failures. The Soap Box Is NOT working. -The People have Demanded -and Begged- Their 'Representatives' & 'Regulatory Enforcement Officials' to No Avail for Just Governance. The Justice System is NOT Working. -There have been No Prosecutions nor return of Plundered Treasure commensurate with the scope of the Crimes. The People will be Naturally Compelled to Invoke the Fourth Box against Their errant Government and the Criminal Oligarchs well before tolerating another round of bogus ineffectual Sham 'Campaigns' and Successive Lootings. IMHO, the Era of the Great Bezzle will End during the term of THIS Presidency; either in Sweeping Meaningful Reforms and Comprehensive Prosecutions & Punishments; or in Most Savage -& Deserved- Eruptions of Pitiless Rage & Revenge. Forcing the Citizenry to Invoke the Fourth Box would be a Disaster of Unprecedented Proportion and unleash all manner of Unnecessary & Misdirected Cruelties & Carnage. -Irrationality & Misery will visit Us in Broad Daylight if this Invocation is Forced. & the World will tremble in Terror to see the Mightiest and Proudest turn upon Itself in Desperation and Disillusionment... It is with PROFOUND Regret that I admit that I believe that the Invocation of the Fourth Box is Now Already a Foregone and Inescapable Conclusion. I Truly Hope I'm Wrong... ---------- DIONYSUS: " Thou hast no knowledge of the life thou art leading; thy very existence is now a mystery to thee. As the media starts to wake up to the actions, attitudes and desires of the Obama administration and realize they could soon be working for the propaganda ministry they are starting to jump off the hope & change train. States won't challenge the crimes of the federal government. They can't survive without their sugar daddy. Karl good work as usual, but be careful. Job losses, first time claims, are staying relatively flat, albeit at an alarming pace. But, to me they are not accelerating. That is, an increasing rate of change. Now, people falling off the rolls are a concern, and participation in EUC 2008 numbers show that. I think you could say the number falling off the rolls is accelerating. That a look at the Sep Oct numbers for EUC 2008. I think you may find an interesting story in people falling off the rolls. This week was a definite turning point in the number running out of benefits. 2009-10-30 13:53:53

First time claims are not an indication of actual job loss. It is replacement rate (or lack thereof) that determines that, along with firing rates. So far (last numbers from up to end of last month) there has been no positive turn. There may be for this month (October) - we'll see next week. ---------- I used to play flute; I wonder if I can play a fife?
