Bear says: Come Get Some!

Gen wrote..May I suggest that you make sure you include former Treasury Department officials along with sitting and former members of Congress? That's the ticket, isn't it? I'm certainly glad to see at least SOME action to combat the fraud. However, IMHO as long as the corruption remains in Congress it doesn't do any long-term good. The fact that some of these frauds are "similar to Enron" is an example. Where was the REAL legistion to help prevent another Enron? Sarbanes-Oxley is a friggin joke. Of course, if they had put any real legislation through, like stricter leverage limits / no off-balance sheet crap we wouldn't be in as big a mess as were in. It's encouraging, yes, but until the issue of Congress is addressed this is like amputating some gangrenous limbs while the patient still has cancer in his heart. Further, if this ultimately leads to the arresting of the "enlisted" and "NCOs" of this fraud, and NOT the "officers", it's just going to **** people off even more. This goes to the top, EVERYONE with 1/2 a brain knows it. With the pain we are going to face and be expected to face we demand some heads that matter. ---------- Via ova capitum dura est. Pop some bubbly boys - this is the day we have waited for for a long, long time. Remember Eliott Ness? Well, few Americans really supported his efforts and all he really accomplished was to force the mob to pay taxes, hire better bookkeepers/money launderers/banksters, or go off-shore (Havana - which may have led to Castro). But every red-blooded American, even J6P will cheer the FBI when it frog-marches banksters out of their opulent offices. There is a God. Thanks Gen.

Don't get ahead of yourself there - I'll be pleasantly surprised if they merely get to 'some' of the bad guys. I think the FBI should hire extensively for this - that's what I'd call putting people back to work. Watch, the government will slash the FBI's budget now. ---------- Stop the Looting; Start Prosecuting - http://www.FedUpUSA.org ![]() "America is at that awkward stage. China to stick with US bonds China will continue to buy US Treasury bonds even though it knows the dollar will depreciate because such investments remain its “only option” in a perilous world, a senior Chinese banking regulator said on Wednesday. “Except for US Treasuries, what can you hold?” he asked. “Gold? You don’t hold Japanese government bonds or UK bonds. US Treasuries are the safe haven. For everyone, including China, it is the only option.” Mr Luo, whose English tends toward the colloquial, added: “We hate you guys. Once you start issuing $1 trillion-$2 trillion [$1,000bn-$2,000bn] . . .we know the dollar is going to depreciate, so we hate you guys but there is nothing much we can do.” http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/ba857be6-f88f-.... As long as we have a mark, I say abuse the crap out of them. Of course, with changing demographics (race + age), there's no way the next generation of Americans is gonna pay the bill, so perhaps they should be looking at 100% principal loss.

Alsace, they WILL scatter. Your response to that will be defining. Make the most of it. Hopefully these investigations will include the Bear Stearns put options, and as I just read about in the Vanity Fair article, the “novation” requests. "That same day Bear executives noticed a worrisome development whose potential significance they would not appreciate for weeks. It involved an avalanche of what are called “novation” requests. When a firm wants to rid itself of a contract that carries credit risk with another firm, in this case Bear Stearns, it can either sell the contract back to Bear or, in a novation request, to a third firm for a fee. By Tuesday afternoon, three big Wall Street companies—Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, and Deutsche Bank—were experiencing a torrent of novation requests for Bear instruments. Alan Schwartz thought it strange that so many requests were being channeled to the same three firms Schwartz came to believe this was no accident. In his mind, the flood of novation requests was designed to force at least one of the three firms to put a temporary halt to accepting them, which is what happened: Goldman and Credit Suisse did. News of that halt not only swept Wall Street trading floors, it appeared to gain credence the next day when David Faber asked Schwartz about it on CNBC." http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/featu.... ---------- Now it appears the 'goal' is no longer to defeat communism. The goal now appears to rabidly loot, and has entered a new desperate phase where the utilization of slave labor for mercantilist gain has extended to bankruptcy for profit, and the stealing of the meager savings of the slaves themselves.

Pika or Karl, why does the FBI appear to march to their own drummer? IE, why don't they appear in cahoots and corrupt like all the rest?

The FBI CAN be corrupted (there are some FAMOUS cases where it was by Presidents) but it has a history of TRYING not to be. Having been stung by those scandals over the years the bureau has gotten significantly better in the last 20 years or so. ---------- "The monetary base in ALL modern monetary systems is the sum of unencumbered assets against which one is both WILLING AND ABLE to borrow." - Me

The FBI is weird. No seriously. I never thought much of them until one of the kids on my son's hockey team had parents who were both in the FBI - and HIGH UP, too. Regular, ordinary people. They live in metro-Detroit, go to hockey games. They just don't 'hang' with the elite in government like some of the other 3-letter organization people. They are really way more removed from those privileged circles. I think they also get paid a lot less. The FBI has had to deal with all kinds of budget cuts over the years. So, they hire ordinary Joes, train them up and tell 'em to go get the bad guys. I'd say most FBI agents are like that - not very glamorous. ---------- Stop the Looting; Start Prosecuting - http://www.FedUpUSA.org ![]() "America is at that awkward stage. Potentially multiple (up to 100) Enrons out there?! That should scare anyone who has money long in the market at this point. If the FBI uncovers enough of these, how long before the powers that be (In the executive and legislative branch) decide that it would be better for "national security" and the "economy" to keep them under wraps? ---------- I am NOT a consumer, I am a Citizen!

The US Probation officers I work with are like that, Steph. Really solid bunch of people and they take their jobs very seriously. If only the majority of government employees were like them... I think you'd do well investigating white-collar crimes, but it might be hard for you if/when they make politically-based choices about who to investigate and who not to.

A former next door neighbor, who back then was in the border patrol, moved up to Air Marshal, and then the FBI. Really nice guy, laid back, and the Bureau was his ultimate goal. Everytime he moved up, they'd send around someone and ask me a few questions about him, just a usual background check. His wife was a waitress at a strip club. They threw some great parties! What I'd like to see is an investigation of CONgress. Get Barney Frank and Co sitting on the other side of the table like at the pigmen hearings today and see them squirm. I bet if the FBI dug deep enough into Freddie and Fannie they'd find enough to bust a few Congress Critters.
