I've noticed the ads for the pro-healthcare side. I've also noticed ads for the Supreme Court nominee. I've never seen anything like this (other than during campaign season)!

Right. All that suppression of dissenting opinions from ABC. 'Cause The Market Ticker would never resort to similar tactics, by censoring forum comments that contradict its own arguments. Let's see ... how long until this comment is removed? T-minus ... five, four, three, two ...

The German Government controlled ALL media (print, radio, etc..) with folks trying to get around it (smuggling German language newspapers from Switzerland, intercepting broadcasts, etc. - and this was before the war, '36-'39 time frame) ... One Network giving a one-sided love fest to the current admin. when there are so many alternate sources for news/opinions is a non-event....

Quote:OK, allthose who voted for this clown hold up your hand. Karl will. We'll see what come out of this and what the show looks like. There may be some opposite view point from the WO present during the special but, if this is a well rigged propaganda operation, then they will be credibly and respectfully demonstrated as inferior (at first glance). The goal here would be to create the illusion of a fair debate that concluded, in an impartial matter, that the WO polici decision was the best. You can't create this illusion by kicking out every opposing views. But that's only if that's what they intend to do. I don't believe ABC is that evil, just self-interested. What's the interest for them to do a info-commercial on Obamacare? Exclusivity on futur WO release or interview? The good ratings the expect to get from it? ---------- "[...] the truth is demanded only when it supports a preset ideology"

Dakine, Did you mean that as "The One Network" or just "One network?" The health care debate floors me. I bet anything most of our health insurance companies are insolvent too. Why wouldn't they be? They probably invested their funds in CDS and other such instruments like all the rest. So why focus on health care when they won't focus on untangling the derivatives? Healthcare, pensions, annuities, tax base, credit, all are in crisis because the financial system is in crisis. The financial system is in crisis because of the assets they won't assign a value to. Paralysis. Can't fix ****ing anything (come on, name me a subject we can fix) until we get on grinding with the great unwinding. Dysfunctional bastards. Just own the problem and man (or woman) up already.

Phantom, I forgot about the FDIC commercials. And I just remembered that GE is running their healthimagination commercials which seem to be promoting the administration's desires. NBC's fluff piece "Inside the Whitehouse," and now ABC. It might not seem like a big deal, but we deserve better. A lot of Americans are glued to their one favorite channel and believe everything they hear. We trust our media too much. (Well, not the crowd on TF.)

"Don't forget that goofy bitch doing the FDIC commercials..." Sheila Bair and her makeover. The new, more professional Sheila Bair. One way to deal with ABC: make a list of their regular advertisers and email them a boycott announcement: "If you continue to support ABC with ad spending, I can no longer continue to support you. Period."

If the socialized healthcare we get is anything like the Veterans Affairs system of healthcare, I'm not going to be looking forward to it with much enthusiasm. I'm not a veteran and therefore do not use the VA, so I'm going by what I've heard and observed over the years. I know some veterans who have no problem with the VA, but I've heard the other side as well. I don't believe that J6P will have the attention span nor desire to watch any of this, not when there is other junk on TV (over-the-air, cable, satellite, what have you). I at least hope that ABC's stunt is a much to do about nothing and it fizzles in the ratings. The CBO also isn't helping the enthusiasm over this issue either with their analysis of some of the proposed legislation: Quote:

John, Smart man. CNN is actually having a serious discussion on whether or not FOX is fair and balanced toward the president. The tv media seems to spend most of their time these days talking about themselves. Last modified:

I'd be impressed if Obama would fix medicare, indian health service, and veterans health care first. Of course, this charade isn't about health care, it is about control of health care. Now on Drudge: Brokaw pitches some soft balls to Obama, and gets rewarded with a presidential commission.

ABC has a public license to broadcast on public airwaves. That license can be revoked by the FCC ... ABC is making a full court press of this issue. They've got Good Morning America at the White House selling it in the morning, followed by Gibson at night with Obama at the White House. This is a government infomercial/propaganda of the worst kind. You can't compare it to anything the Bush administration ever did on television. Cheney showing up on conservative commentator's show is no comparison.

I had Obama pegged as a full-bore Marxist at least a year before the election. And I have a decidedly dim view of anyone who voted for him. If I had been aware of Market Ticker/Ticker Forum at the time of the election I would have tried to talk Karl out of it. I turned my TV off on Election Night, disgusted and nauseated by coverage of the wild, ecstatic celebrations. I didn't turn it on again until about three weeks later to watch a football game. And I don't even like football that much. Nowadays I mainly use it to watch baseball. Apart from that, it's the internet and talk radio for me. ---------- Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience. ~ John Locke
