Great Ticker Gen.

If the FOMC meeting is the target for the end of this corrective wave what do you think about the effect of the 4th quarter GDP number that will be released on January 30th the day before the FOMC meeting?

If the number is terrible will the market hit the skids on the 30th or will a bad print give support to the market's expectation of a big cut on the 31st only to be disapointed?

Just trying to work out the corrective wave patterns between now and termination on the 31st. We gotta have a down wave and then an up wave into the FOMC right?

Thanks.

OFTHEO not happy either...

For Immediate Release
January 24, 2008

STATEMENT OF OFHEO DIRECTOR
JAMES B. LOCKHART ON CONFORMING LOAN LIMIT INCREASE

We are very disappointed in the proposal to increase the conforming loan limit as we believe it is a mistake to do so in the absence of comprehensive GSE regulatory reform. To restore confidence in the markets we must ensure that the GSEs’ regulator has all the necessary safety and soundness tools.

Yesterday Chairman Dodd talked about moving a GSE reform bill early this year. We are ready to work with him and the Senate Banking Committee. We will also be working with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to ensure that any increase in the conforming loan limit moves through their rigorous new product approval process quickly and has appropriate risk management policies and capital in place.

Wow - the panic by the Feds seems to be making things worse - as predicted by KD.

Time for a fresh round of faxes to the govvies? The President's quote of "mark down to market" would indicate he has a remote clue what needs to be done. Surely Wall Street can't be pulling ALL the strings here....

Excellent writeup.

I would probably add that since Bernanke probably never traded a single stock in his life nor ever will, he probably shouldn't have tried doing what KD is doing for a living - which is reading stock market.

This is especially relevant since he's actually in charge in doing something else entirely.

Note that the Fed stop out rate was considerably below 3.50. With little demand, Fed has to reduce the rate to get the primary banks to borrow. Significance here, especially for the T. market?

Thanks KD. I was at work and away from my computer all day, but when I pulled up quotes.ino.com at 6pm EST, I knew something had blown up, but couldn't piece it together from the news sites. If you hadn't explained it in your technical I don't think I would have figured it out.

IMHO this was also your funniest ticker. I laughed out loud at your fed speak and gold commentary.

I signed it ****in A!

Because before ****head acted I was rolling in mortgage applications, now back to the grind.

I think low rates would have mitigated this damn disaster but ramping mortgage rates into this is financial ****ing insanity!

Good petition KD!

When I bring up the slosh report I'm getting completely different numbers than what KD showed on the video.
I go to:
http://www.gmtfo.com/RepoReader/OMOps.as....

I see Net Add for today is only 3.25, yesterday -6.5, Tuesday 10. Very odd.
And I could have sworn someone said on Tuesday they saw net add of 10, and the video is showing 21.58
Is anyone else seeing this?

So soon the politians will have to watch the live ticker of both stock market and the treasury rates as they talk. It is discouraging watching the dip****s screw things up worse while trying to fix it. Surely someone is giving them good advice?

Pretty good Ticker for 1/24/08. My take on the FED was that the collateral markdowns overseas 1/21 and 1/22 would have created more than a few defaults of covenents. So the FED capitulated, rather than just end this torture.

Meanwhile, Cramer on thestreet.com says in one of the videos (Tuesday?) that he studied the books of Citigroup over the weekend and that C was bankrupt (seriously, I think he used that word).

On the other hand, look at this recent Treasury auction from 1/22/08.

Re petition copy-editing -- I'm no English major but had trouble reading the last sentence in the second to last paragraph. Maybe the word "but" is missing?

"This not only cannot be stopped [but] any attempt to do so . . . "
