Gen.

Great Ticker! They just keep getting better.

One question: what is your source for the 'slightly more honest' quote from Bernanke? I am writing my congresspeople today and want to make sure I cite the source correctly. I will be urging them to impeach.

Thanks again for all your hard work!

good cop, bad cop routine. Volcker is now speaking out...give me a break. Why is he doing it now? Its all a charade because no one in the system dare step on toes. Maybe it gives them a reason to change their plan, midstream, by Volcker making this argument. Who knows? Maybe we will not get a rate cut...we'll see how the CPI and PPI come out this week.

Another gem KD. There is no such thing as a "little" honesty, Ben. Either you are honest or you aren't.

I should add also you are either trustworthy or you aren't and the markets have voted since August that Ben and Wall Street clearly aren't to be trusted as evidenced by the dollar/credit/equity markets performance since he began his campaign to "save the street".

By the end of July, the G-7 wants financial companies to fully' disclose in mid-year earnings reports their investments that are at risk of loss. Firms should also establish 'fair-value estimates' for the complex assets that investors have shunned and boost their capital as needed, the G- 7 said.

I don't see a problem with banks meeting this deadline. By then all the banks will have on their balance sheets are Treasuries which they borrowed from the Fed. Or is it MBS and CDOs which the banks borrowed from the Fed in exchange for the Fed borrowing Treasuries from the banks?

should I be any more concerned about GNMAs than the last time I asked (sorry to be a pest about it other than it's my life savings)? these are held in a mutual fund, not actual bonds, at USAA. I mean, since treasuries are starting to stink up the place... other than stuffing cash into the mattress I don't know where else to put it.

Hi Gen,

Just so that you know, Affy is a scientific company that puts tiny pieces of DNA as spots in arrays on glass slides. Scientists use 'Affy chips' to look at changes in levels of gene expression, or to look at differences in specific sequences between populations (disease vs control). I've used their stuff for my own work. I don't follow the company, but it wouldn't surprise me if the problem is competition related.
