Cool. I will send it to the McCain site. The promises have fallen a bit short to say the least. I think we can get some of the criminal prosecution to happen as things get worse and a few powerful people in Congress and outside of politics get squicked themselves. ---------- The market can crash further then you can remain short. Well, it is a fair blog. At least you asked the both side to do the same thing. But, too bad none of them will say or do **** about it. why? Cause they don't know how bad this thing really is. Bama will not say or do **** either. Why he want to scare everyone at this this moment. It is not a good way to get more votes by threat the rich dudes. So you can pretty much forget about it. Forget about promises. Have we heard people told us that there would be no bailout before? I refuse to vote this year. No vote for evils, no matter how much lesser he is from the others. ---------- Pretend and extend will end when 1.pitchforks showing up on the street. 2.comex does not have enough gold. KD wrote..We have sat through eight years of irresponsible, felonious and fraudulent credit creation It's been going on for longer than eight years. A good ticker. I hope you turn some heads among his campaign staff and hell, maybe even get a response. America is slow to change her habits and usually change only occurs when circumstances become dire. We've got, in the minds of Joe Sixpack, a ways to go before things are dire, IMHO. If McCain is elected and he's only slightly better than Bush, it will be an improvement. And there's LOTS of room for improvement. Let's pray and work to encourage McCain to do the right thing. John 2008-09-05 00:12:43

After six days of listening to tons of talk radio, both "news", "conservative", and "liberal" (what of it there is), I notice that nobody talks more about the Sarah Palin family matters than the right wing. They desperately want the focus to remain on the family stuff because they don't want any talk of the real issues with Sarah Palin. They are the ones trying to keep these stories in the news. Tonight I watched McCain's speech where he attacked the (unnamed) establishment as needing reform. Ironically he got the most applause for the night when he mentioned Sarah. Why was it ironic? Because she is far more status quo than McCain himself is. She was elected as Mayor and proceeded to hire a lobbyist to secure $27 million in federal earmarks (pork which McCain specifically criticized three times). She came into office with a balanced budget and proceeded to run up $22 million in debt for a town of less than 6,000 people (at that time). To add to the irony, McCain said he couldn't wait to introduce her to Washington. Given her record, she is far more "Washington" than even he is. Some people think she is a fresh breath of air. To anybody paying attention, she smells of raw sewage. I have to hold both my nose AND keep my mouth shut to avoid the gag reflex. 2008-09-05 00:45:46

I could have sworn the debt was $22 million, but Politico says "almost 20": http://www.politico.com/news/stories/080.... I sincerely apologize if I was wrong. Taxpayers for Common Sense has reported the $27 in earmarks she secured via lobbying, here is one of many articles: http://www.taxpayer.net/resources.php?ca.... I wish I had that monorail episode of the Simpsons on DVD. That was a good laugh. 2008-09-05 01:36:07

Karl, Excellent Ticker. Maybe John McCain will respond. He should, since you referenced some very valid points. I am a registered Republican and a veteran, but will not be voting for McCain or Obama. "We believe in rewarding...risk takers." His speech actually said "We believe in rewarding hard work and risk takers." Nevertheless, am I in the bleachers in reading this as a wink to our friends at Pimco and the other greedy "risk takers"? Gen, your ticker says..."If you don't work for a party or special interest, as you said tonight, then let us hear from you, in the next few days, that:...'Nobody will get a bailout.'" I have been working hard all day and am mentally tired, but it seems hard to ignore what appears to be a wink and nod to "risk takers"; but I also think that the only reason that statement made me pause and wince is b/c of my exposure to the ticker and the forum. I have learned a lot from the ticker and forum and enjoy reading both. Cheers. 2008-09-05 03:28:33

There's no problem with "risk takers" - and in fact they should be rewarded - so long as when your risk-taking doesn't work out you get to eat it. It is only when risk-taking becomes risk-free taking that its a problem. ---------- I used to play flute; I wonder if I can play a fife? Gen whats your opinion on our governments unfunded Medicare and Medicaid problem.I actually got into a disagreement with a friend who carries no health insurance on his family (of 7) yet jumps up and down for joy over McCain and lower taxes. He actually thinks he's owed medical care and lower taxes and doesn't see himself as a problem to the system. BTW great Ticker. ---------- Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Louis D. Quote:But she wasn't quite honest about the "bridge to nowhere"; the money didn't go back to the Federal Budget, did it? That wasn't mentioned. Indeed. As Governor of Alaska, she didn't build the bridge, but STILL KEPT THE MONEY. This is hypocricy at its finest. The truth is Alaska is probably the most socialistic state in the US. For decades they have received the largest amount of per capita federal entitlements and expeditures of any state. California, by contrast, consistantly contributes more to the federal government than it ever receives back. This certainly does not speak to the fiscal conservatism we need right now. Last modified:
