For the week ended Dec. 5, the size of the U.S. commercial paper market, a vital source of short-term funding for daily operations at many companies, fell by $10.2 billion to $1.844 trillion, from $1.854 trillion the previous week. Asset-backed commercial paper outstanding fell for the 17th straight week, down by $23.0 billion. U.S. asset-backed commercial paper outstanding fell to $801.2 billion in the latest week from $824.3 billion the previous week.
