Ameritrade shows neither the volume nor the open interest. It showed the volume yesterday. This might be like one of those freeway traffic james that you never know what really happened.

I'm told that one SPX contract equals 100 SPY, so this looks significant to me but I am new to this. Correct. SPX options are the dreaded ones that people got butt****ed on when Bernanke played his game last week; they actually expire THURSDAY but the settlement price is taken on the OPENING Friday morning.

There's a handful of explanations for this but more than a couple of them boil down to "someone is very, very sure the market is going totally to **** - like cut in HALF - in the next three weeks." You can only hope that is NOT the explanation behind those trades, or that those indicated numbers are due to some sort of data problem and don't represent an actual position. ---------- I used to play flute; I wonder if I can play a fife? Chatter picked up by WMR's sources in the nation's capital and in California point to unusual events that could be a prelude to a 9/11-like false flag "incident" during the Labor Day weekend, possibly one focused on the San Francisco Bay Area. The FBI in Seattle, as well as the Washington Joint Analytical Center (WJAC), have asked for the public's help in identifying two men spotted aboard Washington state ferries exhibiting unusual behavior. A number of ferry passengers have reported the two men showing strange behavior. Two photos have been circulated showing two young "Middle East" looking men on board a ferry. The reluctance of the FBI to provide more details is reminiscent of the 2000 and 2001 closely-held government reports that a number of teams of between two and five to six young male and female Israelis, all veteran or reserve Israeli Defense Force members, were spotted casing federal facilities, oil refineries, harbor areas, homes of federal law enforcement officials, office buildings -- including the World Trade Center, bridges, tunnels, and military bases and airfields prior to and subsequent to the 9/11 attacks. ---------- Would you give your money to these banks? http://bankimplode.com/list/troubledbank.... They're already aware of it I'm sure. This is so blatant that I have trouble believing it would really be that kind of a play. You'd have to be outright nuts to put that on in that sort of fashion because (1) its VERY traceable and (2) its staring you in the FACE. BTW, that wasn't put on today. That's the OI; I don't know when the position was put on. Anyway, I'm not buying it as an "end of the world" type of trade for those reasons. I have no explanation for the SPY trades that were done the other day, and I don't know when these were put on, but I do know that the CBOT/E had trouble today with data feeds, so it'll be interesting to see if those are still there in the morning. ---------- I used to play flute; I wonder if I can play a fife? I would point out that the volume for those 700 put options today was 55,000. Also though, there are 61,000 OI in the calls at 700 too, so I am not sure this is some kind of foreknowledge. Last modified:

That is too eerily familiar to all of the Puts placed on airline stocks within two days before 9/11. That's some scary ****e and if it is true that those transactions went through I'd be very worried. It doesn't take a terrorist attack to hit the S&P. Some inside information into a major bank going under could pay off just as well.
