nice piece.I think the CB are indeed coming up to a time for the crucial decision on which they'll go.I only hope they take the short sharp shock route. It'll be better in the long run all round.

Very sobering and very right. Thanks.

Living in a 'suply side' state, I see more of the same, much more. I just wonder when do the retailers, and the restaurants, get their 'free' lunch too? As this government sadly thinks excessive supply cures all ills, everytime. They live in fantasy. Time for some of those tlt puts on the leap side.

Already emailed my Senators. Next up congress.

KD, a question: on the Interest Cost Distortion 80s-00s page, you say that we outsourced production of overpriced jeans, Victorias Secrets bras, $30 DVD player, etc. True.
Reality of situation is someone perhaps in Vietnam making $0.15 per hour to manufacture. Products come over here, we buy it, "and the money goes back over there to those foreign lands".

Is this very last part true if it's a US company that has just outsourced production? Obviously some money goes over there to pay $0.15/hr per worker, but aren't profits realized here in the US?

Very compelling, KD.

Every politician needs to watch this.

You missed your calling. You should have been a teacher.

I particularly like the segment on how foreign purchases of our debt have distorted interest rates for the last 20 years. I knew these abnormally low interest rates didn't make sense. But I didn't know why.

In the same way that, I didn't understand how home prices year after year consistently rose more that CPI and Incomes. It was totally illogical to me. If we didn't have kids I would have sold in 2000-2002. But now I understand. Lending standards became all but non-existent. And buyers were approved on the basis of low teaser rates.

The money necessary to build and expand that factory goes over there.

Some of it stays here of course which pumps our market's earnings to unsustainable levels, but the portion that goes overseas creates a tremendous inflation problem for the "host" economy.

This is why China has been buying our Ts - in an attempt to remove that money from the economy so the inflationary impact is neutered.

That flow of funds to them, and thus the inflationary impact requiring those purchases, depends on continuing offshoring - not production but expansion of the offshoring, because the big impact is when the factories are built and productive capacity is expanded over there.

As you noted the guy who makes 15 cents/hour isn't where the impact comes from.

This is why it won't and can't continue - we've sent basically ALL of our offshorable capacity over there already, and as a consequence that flow and distortion is now over.

Great prez.

Technical q: when you "Diggit" you are automatically forwarded away from this page, and to the DIGG digs. That's annoying if you Digg It before you have watched the whole thing already. Say you just get excited and jumped the gun. It happens. Can the dig open another window/tab?

Unfortunately no, as the "digg" button calls a Javascript file that I do not have control over - its a source file on the Digg web site.

thanks for explaining, KD.

Speaking of Digg:

We need to get EVERYONE to Digg this fast and spread it around!

We pushed the petition to Digg and were successful in getting it onto the frontpage of Digg... however, since that time, the Diggs on all the rest of our stuff has plummetted and we've been getting lost in the noise.

I know you said that the lower, middle and upper classes will be hit by this. I agree.

However, instead of the lower class just buying 1 less 6-pack per week, I think they will be the hardest hit. Interest rates go up causing a slowdown in business, less revenues for the Feds so more borrowing by the US which drives up rates even more. Fuel costs go up at time when salaries are decreasing or are becoming non-existent. Even if the social programs stay the same the $$ will not go as far and food, shelter, and fuel may be unavailable for a large percentage of these people. (I doubt Medicaid, state programs, will stay the same as the states will be hurting by costs going up and revenues decreasing.)

Looks like classic death spiral to me. Maybe we can at least pick out the spot where we crash.

This is the best video you've ever done. I posted it at two other widely read forums with the following, and emailed my address book.

======

I'm posting one of Karl Denninger's most recent videos - 25 minutes. This is as good as anything you've ever heard or seen. Using nothing but numbers, charts, and graphs, he tells you where we've been, where we are, where we're going, and how we're going to get there. It does not get plainer than this.

Now use the links and phone numbers up top.

Any problem with me forwarding this to my database? It includes several top producing realtors. I don't want to forward without your prior written consent.

Maybe I'll send some links to Mr Mortgages stuff too. That ought to wake up a few in the RE community.

You have provided much insight over the last several months to me and many on this board. The content and presentation on this topic is simply your best work. I will be proud to forward this to my contacts that have been getting repeated updates on this topic. I think that the more serious but relaxed tone also helps get the message across more effectively. Thanks for all that you are trying to do on this topic......
